The Golden Rooster
Rooster icons date back to Roman times and are universally recognized as symbols of punctuality and dependability.
The rooster holds a special place in the history of New York. On a bright, sunny day in May of 1833, Emily Roebling was the first person to officially cross the newly opened Brooklyn Bridge. In her arms she carried a live rooster as a symbol of victory and accomplishment. As she made her way across, the men working on the bridge raised their hats and voices in triumph and cheered the historic moment.
